HISTORICAL PORT INN

HISTORICAL Port Inn, regarded as the Ottoman-era head architect of Vedat Tek’s masterpiece and named ‘Istanbul’s Tower of Pisa’ due to its inclination problem, has been fully restored. The Port Inn was one of the inns that shaped Istanbul’s commercial activities, particularly foreign trade. The city has welcomed the structure following Istanbul Chamber of Commerce’s (ICOC) three-year-long restoration and reconstruction activities. Port Inn opens its doors to research with the Istanbul Strategic Research Center it hosts, avails learning about Istanbul with the Dersaadet Library, gathers readers with books on Istanbul with Kitap Istanbul and offers a pleasant break with Bullvar Cafe and Cemile Sultan Restaurant.

DERSAADET LIBRARY
Dersaadet Library, launched in the historic Port Inn, continues to expand its inventory to become the first centre to spring into the minds of Turkish and foreign researchers working in Istanbul. In addition to books in many languages, the library features rich and superb content comprising collector’s items, postcards, maps and guides. Some of the publications of the Dersaadet Library are available via https://kutuphane.ito.org.tr/yordam. Visitors can delve into thousands of works, especially the collector’s items, for three hours with a reservation.

OVER A THOUSAND PUBLICATIONS
ICOC realised hundreds of publications, projects and events throughout its long-standing past of 141 years. With Kitap Istanbul, ICOC introduces its old books and research along with the prestigious books on the city’s history, culture and economy. Over a thousand works in Istanbul in foreign languages are exclusive treasures for researchers and those curious about Istanbul. Kitap Istanbul also contains books that introduce Istanbul to children. Visitors can purchase books on Istanbul from the store at the Port Inn or buy online via www.kitapistanbul.org.tr

A SPOT FOR A BREAK WITH A VIEW
Visitors wishing to stop for a breath at the Historical Peninsula can enjoy a sweet and warm coffee break at the Bullvar Cafe at Port Inn downstairs. Promising to become a unique stop at the Culture Road, the Port Inn offers delightful dishes to its visitors with the Cemile Sultan Restaurant with its view of Istanbul from the terrace floor.

ISTANBUL UNDER THE SCOPE
Another unit introduced as part of Port Inn, the Istanbul Strategic Research Center (ITOSAM), will collect data, conduct research and hold events on the areas such as macroeconomic projections, access to finance, human capital, R&D, innovation, e-commerce, foreign trade, migration, global uncertainties and global change that bear critical importance for the real sector. ITOSAM focuses on the real sector, and ‘Real Sector’s Green Transformation in Istanbul’ is its first work.
