ISTANBUL Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) gathers major companies and sub-industry companies with the ‘Supplier Days.’ Domestic and international companies cooperate with Turkish companies in supply and procurement processes in the events organized by the Sub-Industry Market (YSB) within the body of ICOC. The Sub-Industry Market was founded under the auspices of ICOC in 1990 with the support of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). Many companies from Türkiye and the rest of the world attended ICOC Sub-Industry Market’s Supplier Days and found domestic and foreign partners for its members for 34 years. Global giants purchase their requirements from the Sub-Industry Market. Major companies ordering customized goods to the sub-industry companies also support these companies’ access to third markets.

30 MAJOR COMPANIES ATTENDING EACH YEAR

Companies such as Siemens, Hitachi, Türk Traktör, ASELSAN, Arçelik, Bosch, TUSAŞ and Emerson are among the essential guests of the supplier days. The market brings an average of 30 key industrialist companies to Istanbul. In this way, Turkish

sub-industry businesses seize the opportunity to meet major domestic and foreign giants and sign procurement contracts.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Sub-Industry Market assesses the demands of the main industrialists and determines the companies that manufacture the demanded materials. Following the announcement to the market members, the data of the replying sub-industrialists are transferred to the main industrialists. The matching process aligns with the sub-industrialist’s compliance with the demand. The matched companies are invited to ICOC for the ‘Supplier Days’, and face-to-face technical negotiations are held at ICOC. The Sub-Industry Market provides technical support to the communication between the companies.

Sixty per cent of the demands reaching the Sub-Industry Market are from foreign countries. Besides, 91 per cent of the market’s members are exporters. These members export forty per cent of their production to European countries, and their second largest market in Asia.

The companies integrating technology with the defence industry have been rendering their supplier’s technology developers. With the latest supplier days, the defence industry companies TUSAŞ, ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN, STM and FNSS have further increased their cooperation with the SMEs. The product endenization and nationalization activities that have gained pace in recent years have increased the number of domestic suppliers yearly.

559 companies out of 1147 applicants to the supplier days of TUSAŞ, ROKETSAN and FNSS on the event’s first day and ASELSAN, HAVELSAN and STM on the second day signed procurement contracts.
