Swap opportunity has been closed for those whose aim is speculation instead of necessity
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce President Şekib Avdagiç evaluated the decision of limited swap operations taken by Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency. Avdagiç said that “ Swap opportunity has been closed for those whose aim is speculation instead of necessity. The board of economy will not let them benefit from this opportunity”.
After Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency’s (BDDK) President Mehmet Ali Akben’s words about close pursuit on the bank applications whether or not the banks obey their instructions, the business world supported BDDK.
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) President Şekib Avdagiç said that they wait the same sensetiveness from the private banks too while the public banks are supporting the real sector on this period having historical importance.
THE MESSAGE FOR SPECULATORS: ‘RETIRE FROM TL’
Avdagiç gave the message for speculators ‘retire from TL’ to BDDK to limit the swap operations of the banks. Avdagiç evaluated like that “We do not have to forget that this decision is related to the damages of coronavirus (Covid-19) in global stage. We believe to meet with healthy days soon when this machanism will work better”.
TCMB OPENS SWAP OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE HAVING NECCESSITY
Avdagiç talked about the availability of swap opportunity supported by Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) for the banks on the market conditions said like that “The foreign swap opportunity has been closed for those whose aim is speculation instead of necessity. The board of economy will not let them evaluate this opportunity. BDDK (Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency) gives warning message for financial foundations; ‘give TL to the SMEs, don’t take Dollar in return of giving TL to abroad’”.
Avdagiç said that BDDK President Akben has no decision about limitation on domestic swap operations notified like that “TCMB opens swap opportunity for those who have necessity, but the swap opportunity in abroad is closed for those whose aim is speculation”.
